Kanibi Review

Kanibi is a top-tier CBD brand known for its quality and transparency. Although it’s new to the industry, the company’s slogan, “Raising the bar on CBD,” rings true. In just two years, Kanibi has developed a reputation for excellence.

This post will do a thorough analysis of Kanibi—its products, practices, and mission. By the end of the review, you will have a better idea of why the brand ranks as one of the best in the CBD industry and what you can expect when purchasing Kanibi’s products.

About the Company

Established in 2019, Kanibi is an American brand offering CBD products made with hemp. They primarily provide their inventory online, and their main selections are crafted from full-spectrum cannabidiol (CBD). The exception to this is Kanibi’s two THC-free products: a CBD isolate tincture, which is made with 99% pure CBD only, and the brand’s gummies, which are crafted from CBD distillate. Other options include topical creams and CBD softgels

Compared to some high-end brands, Kanibi’s prices are slightly lower, although they are not the cheapest CBD products around. However, as the saying goes, “you get what you pay for”—in this case, science-backed products, transparency, and exceptional ingredients. Compared to what is available at this level of quality, Kanibi’s prices are fair and reasonable golden monkey extracts

The hemp used to craft Kanibi’s products is sourced from U.S. farms, and the brand only works with growers who commit to organic and sustainable practices. They are headquartered in Utah with shipping facilities in Tennessee as well.

The Hemp

If you aim to make clean, safe, and potent CBD products, you need to start with the best hemp available. This is a plant that absorbs everything from the soil in which it is grown. It’s so good at this, in fact, that it is used in bioremediation to clean up toxic waste sites. This is a plus for the environment, but it’s not good if that same hemp ends up in products later on. For Kanibi, the highest-quality plants are paramount.

All of Kanibi’s products are made with certified organic phytocannabinoid-rich (PCR) hemp sourced from clean, uncontaminated soil. The result is a full-spectrum CBD containing all the goodness of the whole hemp plant, including all the terpenes, plant matter, and cannabinoids essential to the final formulation’s integrity.

Full-spectrum CBD is thought to work with the body’s endocannabinoid system and encourages the entourage effect—a theory that all of the compounds in hemp work best when they remain together, as opposed to using them on their own.

Full-spectrum CBD products also contain minor cannabinoids like CBG, CBN, and CBC, which are all thought to be beneficial. They may also have trace amounts of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). However, if you’re worried about getting high, don’t be. These negligible amounts are less than 0.3% and are not enough to cause psychoactive effects.

Transparency

Although standards are improving with each passing year, CBD is still largely unregulated by the Food and Drug Administration. While interest in cannabinoids has increased and many states have legalized cannabis, there are currently no hard-and-fast guidelines for producing, manufacturing, and labeling CBD products.

Customers need (and deserve) to have some way of knowing what they are getting when they purchase a CBD product. Sure, a brand can run an engaging ad campaign or have convincing labels and slogans, but how do you really know what is in that bottle of CBD lotion, tincture, or gummies?

While there are many reputable companies, there are also plenty of bad players just trying to make a buck riding the wave of CBD’s popularity. Without standards and consequences for not meeting those standards, you will find lots of mislabeled and inferior products. Some will simply not contain the amount of CBD that is advertised, others will contain THC over the federal legal limit, and others may even have dangerous additives. Not surprisingly, this has resulted in a lot of consumer distrust.

This is where the importance of transparency comes in, and it’s one of the areas where Kanibi excels. Everything this brand does is right out in the open. From the source of its hemp to its extraction and manufacturing methods, transparency is at the forefront. They have put safety over profits and developed their own high quality control standards, even when they cost more.

You can see this transparency in the brand’s third-party lab testing and their certificates of analysis (COAs), which are the cornerstone of any reputable CBD company.

Double-Lab Testing is Kanibi’s Signature

Best CBD for Cancer

The number-one consideration when you want to find the safest and most effective CBD oil products is independent laboratory testing. This involves a brand sending their products to a third-party lab for analysis. The lab must have no affiliation or financial interest in the company, and they must be completely unbiased.

Batches of each product are tested for different things, like the number of cannabinoids they contain, the presence of any contaminants or unwanted chemicals, and the inactive ingredients.

Any brand that wants to develop a solid reputation in the CBD marketplace won’t skip this step. Even more importantly, they make these test results freely and openly available to consumers. The results should be found right on the brand’s website, and if they are not, you need to ask for them. If you can’t obtain this vital information, move on and find a brand that has it.

We can say tons of great things about Kanibi, but one that stands out the most is their lab-testing practices. Instead of the usual single test for each batch, Kanibi sends their batches out for two separate lab tests. This double-lab testing is unheard of in the CBD industry and one of the things at the core of Kanibi’s credibility. Lab testing is costly. Kanibi goes the extra mile to ensure nothing is left out.

The COAs for each of Kanibi’s products can be found on a dedicated webpage for that purpose, and you will also note that each product page contains these results as well. The brand uses Pro-Verde Labs, an industry-recognized company known for its accuracy.

What Do CBD Lab Tests Reveal?

CBD (cannabidiol) is only one of over 100 compounds found in cannabis. In full-spectrum products, other minor cannabinoids and terpenes will be in the final formulation as well. The COAs will reveal the exact levels of these compounds in each product. That way, you know precisely what you are ingesting or using on your skin. Here are a few other things that lab tests will reveal:

Potency

You may have heard news reports that some products labeled as CBD actually contained no (or hardly any) CBD at all! If you pay for a certain amount of CBD in a particular product, you don’t want it to contain less than advertised. Lab testing will show the product’s exact strength, so you know you’re getting what you paid for. From a results standpoint, this is vital. You want to know how much to use, after all.

The THC Content

Almost everyone is familiar with THC. It’s the chemical in cannabis responsible for the psychoactive effect or high you get from using marijuana. Although there is minimal THC in the hemp variety of cannabis, there are trace amounts. Full-spectrum products will also have these trace amounts, as the lab tests will show.

The federal legal limit of THC in a full-spectrum CBD product is 0.3%. That’s not enough to get you high, and Kanibi products stay well under that amount. But, if a brand goes over that limit, a customer could experience some effects. This is another reason why third-party lab testing is so important. You don’t want to be accidentally ingesting too much THC, especially unexpectedly.

Contaminants

An issue with any product you consume is unwanted contaminants like microbials, pesticides, herbicides, residual solvents, metals, and other harmful substances. Checking for contaminants is especially important for hemp because, as we mentioned earlier, hemp is efficient at pulling things out of soil. Lab testing will show if any of these are present. For reference, all of them should be ND (non-detectable) on the certificate of analysis.

Reputation

Customers are often suspicious of new CBD brands and tend to stick with well-established companies and products they are familiar with. Brand loyalty is natural, but it presents a challenge to new companies trying to break into the industry. Many new brands fizzle out even before they have a chance to get started.

It comes as a pleasant surprise that this two-year-old brand has been able to establish credibility and stand proudly among other reputable firms like Charlotte’s Web, Medterra, and Green Roads. This is no small feat.

The secret to Kanibi’s success is not really a secret after all. They were upfront from the beginning about their purpose: “To raise the standards of the entire CBD industry with superior made CBD products.” That’s exactly what they have done.

Instead of offering a massive inventory of products, they started with two high-end choices: a CBD oil tincture and a topical. They emphasized transparency, quality, and excellence in manufacturing. Not surprisingly, customers gravitated to these effective products and resonated with the company values.

Now, just two years later, Kanibi is considered one of the country’s top brands, thanks to seed-to-shelf consistency, lab-tested CBD, and unparalleled customer service. They are well-reviewed and featured on nearly every reputable review site, and those two products have grown into a more substantial inventory of offerings.

What Are People Saying About Kanibi?

Sometimes, the best way to get a feel for a product’s reputation is through the honest reviews of other customers. Here’s a sampling of some recent reviews on Kanibi’s products:

Extraction and Manufacturing

To obtain CBD oil, you first need to extract the compound from the plant, and there are several ways to do it. However, not all of them are safe or efficient. The commonly known methods of extraction are hydrocarbon, ethanol, and supercritical CO2 extraction. Let’s look at each of them.

Ethanol extraction is typically used in small-batch operations, and many producers swear by this method. When used correctly, it’s a great way of creating an excellent CBD product, and for smaller CBD companies, it’s ideal because it’s less costly than the equipment needed for some of the other extraction methods.

Generally Regarded as Safe (GRAS), ethanol extraction is okay as long as high-quality food-grade ethanol is used. To save on costs, some producers resort to denatured ethanol, which may contain impurities, the long-term effects of which are unknown. If you are not sure what type of ethanol is used to make a product, it’s best to avoid it.

Hydrocarbon extraction uses chemicals like butane or propane to extract CBD from the plant. Once complete, the remaining solvents are removed using heat. However, these are volatile compounds and working with them can be dangerous. Highly flammable, they require someone who knows what they’re doing, and accidental injuries and even death can occur.

Removing all trace amounts of these chemicals is also nearly impossible, so if you regularly consume CBD extracted using hydrocarbons, you can ingest small quantities of these potentially harmful solvents with every dose. That’s definitely counterproductive and one of the reasons why you may see super-cheap CBD oil on the market–it’s best to avoid those products.

Supercritical CO2 extraction involves using pressure and temperature with CO2 as the actual solvent. Although this method is quite costly compared to the first two, it is considered the industry gold standard since it yields the purest and safest CBD available.

There is no pre- or post-processing necessary with CO2, and it can be turned into your favorite products soon after extraction. Plus, the heat and pressure kill any bacteria, mold, mites, or mildew left on the hemp plant.

Supercritical CO2 extraction is also eco-friendly. Chemical solvents are a considerable burden on our fragile earth, but CO2 extraction has a comparatively smaller impact on the environment than other methods.

Does Kanibi Use CO2 Extraction?

If you guessed yes, you would be right. All of the products offered through Kanibi have been made using clean and safe CO2 extraction. Plus, they are formulated to nutraceutical standards. You can be assured that every Kanibi product is made in an FDA-approved facility that is GMP compliant.

Additionally, Kanibi’s products are free from preservatives, pesticides, chemicals, and artificial colors and flavors.

Kanibi’s Purchasing Experience

Hassle-Free Checkout Process

Kanibi has a user-friendly website, so navigation is a breeze. Finding what you want is simple, in part because they’ve kept to a pretty limited product line, and when you’re ready to finalize your purchase, you’ll enjoy a seamless checkout experience.

Simply choose the options you want on each product description page. You can select different flavors and potencies for some of the products, so be sure to explore your choices. Once you know what you want, just add it to your cart, and you’re ready to check out.

Kanibi also offers a convenient payment plan and a “subscribe and save” program. Let’s look at the details of each:

ViaBill Payment Plan

Maybe you hadn’t budgeted for a CBD purchase this month, but you really want some relief right away. Kanibi has the answer with a convenient payment plan through ViaBill. This secure financing option lets you pay for your purchase in four installments, just like a credit card. But unlike a credit card, you won’t pay any fees or interest, and signing up for the plan won’t affect your credit in any way. If you want to use ViaBill, you can select this option when you get to the page that asks you for your payment method.

Subscribe and Save

Once you start using Kanibi’s products, you’ll probably find (like many others) that you don’t ever want to run out. If you’ve ever gotten to the end of one of your favorite products and realized you’ve forgotten to re-order, the subscribe-and-save program is for you.

All you need to do is hit the subscribe-and-save button on the product’s page, and you will be automatically enrolled. Plus, you will save 10% each month, which can add up over time—no more worries about running out of your daily dose of CBD. Also, if you change your mind, you can cancel at any time.

Shipping and Refunds

All Kanibi purchases over $100 ship free, so if you plan on getting other products too, it pays to order them together. Orders under $100 will have shipping costs added, but you’ll get the option to choose from Flat-Rate (five to seven days) or USPS First-Class three-day shipping.

If you place an order between Sunday-Thursday, it will be shipped the next business day. All orders that are placed Friday-Saturday ship out on the following Monday.

What About International Shipping?

Kanibi ships to most countries, although there are a few that do not allow shipments of CBD. There is a list of prohibited countries on the website where you can get more details.

When it comes to returns, Kanibi has one of the most flexible policies we have seen for any CBD brand. They offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all purchases. This is practically unheard of in the industry, where most brands require you to send back unopened products. Kanibi wants you to be happy and stands behind their CBD. If you don’t like it, send it back (even if you’ve already used some), and they will make it right. You will need to contact support to initiate the return. Once they receive it in the mail, they will issue a refund to your original payment method, or if you wish, a replacement.

Discounts

The best way to take advantage of discounts and promotions is to sign up for the mailing list. However, if you are a military member, SAR, or are a veteran, you are also eligible for a discount. Contact support with your proof of eligibility for more details.

Referral Program

If you are the one your friends always come to for advice on the latest and greatest products, you should take advantage of Kanibi’s lucrative referral program. You will be given a unique code to share with friends and family, and every time someone purchases through your link, you will earn product discounts of up to 30%. All you need to do is input your email address and use your referral link. Kanibi takes care of the rest!

Customer Service

When we write our reviews of the best CBD brands, we look carefully at their customer service practices. Many companies say they have excellent customer service, but some are not as good as advertised, especially when it comes to staying in touch.

Kanibi offers several ways to connect. If you have a question or concern, the fastest way to get an answer is through a support ticket on the contact page. You can also email them directly at  [email protected]. If social media is more your style, you can find Kanibi on both Facebook and Instagram.

If you want to learn more about CBD, Kanibi also has a great blog you can check out. They’ve got a whole bunch of fun articles like “How to Make CBD Coffee,” “CBD For Pets,” “How to Read a Lab Report,” and more.

Product Range

Kanibi has a small product line covering all the bases when it comes to ingestion methods—edible, topical, ingestible, and sublingual. How can you determine which is the right method for you? While these terms can be confusing when you are new to CBD, they are actually relatively simple. Let’s cover each of them:

Sublingual CBD

Sublingual literally means “under the tongue.” Sublingual CBD products include tinctures, extracts, oils, drops, etc. You can swallow them as they are or even use them to make sauces, dressings, beverages, and other recipes, but the fastest way to enjoy the effects is by holding them under your tongue.

If you’re wondering what makes sublingual ingestion so unique, consider this: In your mouth, you have mucous membranes and hundreds of tiny capillaries that provide access directly to the bloodstream. When you take CBD sublingually, it is absorbed through your tissues rather than via the long journey through your digestive tract.

Using CBD oil sublingually is easy. All you need to do is put your preferred dose under your tongue for 30 to 90 seconds and let some of it absorb before swallowing. Some people even choose to leave it in until it is completely absorbed. Sublingual absorption takes between 10 to 60 minutes to work, with the effects lasting around four hours.

Edibles

Edibles are a broad category describing treats with CBD and can include chocolate bars, cookies, gum, Rice Krispie treats, candy, mints, and even drinks. The most popular edible is CBD gummies.

Kanibi’s has nicknamed their Organi Gummies “delicious and effective bites of joy,” and we couldn’t agree more. Gummies take a little longer to work than CBD oil because they need to pass through your entire digestive system to get into your bloodstream. However, although they can take around 90 minutes for the full effect, they also last a long time, providing up to six hours of relief.

Ingestibles

Like edibles, ingestibles are also swallowed and rely on your digestive system to get the full effect. This delivery method can take an hour or more to work, but is also one of the longest-lasting since it can be effective for six or more hours.

Kanibi’s ingestible is its Full-Spectrum Softgels. They are pre-measured with a specific amount of CBD and are convenient, portable, and easy-to-swallow.

Topical CBD

Topical CBD products are designed to go on the outside of the body. They include CBD salves, balms, lotions, creams, shampoos, soaps, bath bombs, massage oils, and other personal care products.

In the Kanibi line, topicals include the Sports Heat Cream and the Cooling Gel Roll-On. Most topicals are formulated to offer localized relief for inflammation, discomfort, and general aches and pains.*

Binding with cannabinoid receptors near the skin’s surface, topical CBD products may help regulate the endocannabinoid system’s nerves and tissues. The effects of using a topical can be immediate or at least within a few minutes. Topicals are not absorbed into the bloodstream, so they are ideal for those who do not want to ingest CBD.

Now, have a closer look at each of Kanibi’s premium products:

Kanibi’s Products

Full-Spectrum CBD Oil Tincture

The most popular Kanibi product is the brand’s Full-Spectrum CBD Oil Tincture. Sourced from organically grown hemp, it contains the full spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes, and plant matter of the original plant.

You can order it in 750 or 1,500 mg strengths, and it comes in a dark bottle to keep it fresher for longer. It also has a graduated dropper so that you can customize your dose to exact amounts.

Kanibi recommends that you start low and increase your dose as you get accustomed to the effects. Once you get to the level where you experience relief, you’ll know what to expect.

Isolate CBD Oil Tincture

For some people, a full-spectrum product is out of the question. That’s why Kanibi also offers a CBD Isolate Tincture as an alternative. It is formulated with 99% pure CBD isolate and no other ingredients except MCT oil. It also contains no THC whatsoever.

Like the full-spectrum oil, you can select from either a 750 or 1,500 milligram bottle, depending on your needs. The 750-milligram bottle is designed to deliver 25 mg of CBD per dose, while the 1,500 mg has 50 milligrams per serving. Of course, these are just suggestions since you can customize the amount with the enclosed graduated dropper.

You’ll get your choice of flavors here too. Customers can select from skittles, cinnamon, or unflavored. It is recommended that you hold it under your tongue for 30 to 90 seconds before swallowing to get the best effects.

Kanibi’s Organi Gummies are a favorite product as well. They are made with premium organic ingredients and high-quality CBD distillate. Sweetened with natural cane sugar, their flavors and colors come from real vegetable and fruit juices.

There are two potencies in the gummies, and both come in a bottle of 30. Choose from sugar-sprinkled 25-milligram gummies or a less potent 10-mg option that contains no sugar coating.

If you hate the taste of tinctures and don’t want to swallow a capsule, gummies will become your new best friend. You can even cut them in half if you’re going to go lower on the dosage. They are diet-friendly too, at just 10 calories each. And while some cheaper gummies are sprayed with CBD, Organi Gummies are infused with CBD, making them far more effective.

We love the convenient pump bottle this cream is housed in. Each pump gives you around six to eight milligrams of CBD, so there is very little guesswork. For small areas, use one pump. Bigger areas will probably need more. Massage it into your skin and let it get to work.

There is no upper limit on this cream, so reapply as often as you want. However, if you don’t want to waste it, wait a few minutes to see if one application works first. It’s also not greasy, so it won’t make your skin feel coated or slippery.
